How to drain off water in my swimming pool?
How do I drain rain water from my pool when have only a BACKWASH valve that runs water across my DE filter? I do not have a by-pass valve to just eliminate excess water. I do have a hose bib on a pipe coming out from between the basket and the pump motor but I have never used it and do not know whether that is what it is for. If it is, should I just turn it on, while the pump is running to release water?
It just seemed to small to really do any volume and other pools I have had, had a separate valve and PVC pipe that accommodated a large blue collapsible pool hose. The tank doesn’t even have
the usual hose bib drain at the bottom
PS… not dumb, just never have seen such a limited set up as this..even my valves for skimmer, main drains, and pool cleaner are all on one valve!!
Yes the hose bib will work. A lot of cheaper pools were installed that way. If it were me I would hook up a hose to the bib and drain the water by the curb. Oh and don’t forget to check it every once in a while, you will be surprised how fast a few inches of water will be drained.
