Why would a voltmeter across a blown bulb that is connected to other bulbs in series still register a voltage?

So I’ve got 6 bulbs in series connected to a 240V power source. One of the bulb’s blow. Why is it when i place a voltmeter across that blown bulb, the voltmeter gives a reading of 240V? And why is it when i place a voltmeter across a bulb that isn’t blown, it gives a 0V reading?

What a great question.
Notice that you get a voltage drop across the blown bulb of 240V. That means that there is no voltage drop across any other points in the circuit.
There is no current in the circuit and so no voltage drop across any of the “working” bulbs. But when the voltmeter is connected across the blown bulb, the voltmeter itself completes the circuit and allows a current to flow. This current causes the voltmeter to function and register a voltage. You know already that voltmeters have very high resistances – so high that the current they allow to flow will be tiny and nowhere near enough to make the remaining bulbs light up.
There really is a voltage drop across the broken bulb . Don’t try touching the terminals – I did once – it really hurts.
