Does turning on my car fan burn more fuel?
I have a 325i and I have my fan on low most of my 2hr per day drive. So I wonder if I am hurting my mpg.
Simple answer – yes. Your entire car is powered by gasoline – even the electric part, because is the gas engine turning the alternator that makes the electricity to turn the fan.
However, it will be negligible, so I don’t think it would be worth driving without the fan – or the windows down at higher speed.
If you have a RPM display on your dash- try turning the fan off/on and see if you see an RPM difference – probalby not.
