Also, if you use your AC and heat, don’t turn it off when you are gone. Lower it (in the winter) or raise it (in the summer) by 10 degrees, then adjust it to normal when you get home.

If you turn it off completely, the system has to work that much harder to change the temperature differential. By adjusting it by 10 degrees, it works much less.
