Being More Energy Efficient

There are a wide range of energy-saving light bulbs on the market nowadays. These bulbs claim to use about a fifth of the energy of traditional bulbs, for the same amount of light. They do tend to cost more to buy initially but manufacturers claim that they will last over 10 times longer than traditional bulbs. Therefore, effectively they will pay for themselves over time and save you money on your energy bills.

Typically 30% of a domestic Electricity Bill is spent on lighting your home so it makes good financial sense to make the switch over to energy-saving light bulbs. Recent advances in LED technology means that this technology is now becoming a more cost-effective way of lighting your home. The cost of white GU10 LED Bulbs has decreased and the light output of the bulbs has increased making it a reasonable alternative for domestic lighting purposes. LED lights tend to be used only as spotlights or to create mood lighting as each LED has a narrow direct light spread compared to traditional bulbs, therefore manufacturers have to cluster lots of LEDs together in order to create a more even spread of light. It is thought that the 240V or 110V version of LED GU10 light bulbs can be used instead of halogen bulbs as a direct replacement for standard GU10 based bulbs. Overall, the LED version substantially reduces energy consumption and is therefore a more energy efficient alternative.

It is thought that the GU10 light bulbs are very energy efficient compared to conventional light bulbs, with around a 80% to 90% energy saving. They also have a very long life meaning that they won’t need replacing as much as other types of light bulbs. GU10 light bulbs have a range of light outputs for different purposes. For example, Warm White 2700k- 4300k, daylight white 5000k- 6500k and more. One of the advantages of LED GU10 light bulbs is that because of their low energy consumption they put out less heat into their surroundings.
