Why does my energy saving Light Bulb at porch burn out so quickly?

I have a dawn-dusk sensor activated porch lite that has been working fine for 10 years, until I recently replaced the bulb with energy saving bulb. Conventional bulb lasts about 12 months, but energy saving bulbs only last about a week. I tried different watt and different brands, but it makes little difference.

There are some compatibility issues with timers and dusk to dawn sensors. Yes that could be the reason for your CFL to be going out so quickly. Also if it is in a totaly enclosed fixture a lot of CFLs are not rated for enclosed.
