Say it with flowers – tips for valentine
Saying it with a flower
Get your beloved a dictionary on the meaning of flowers or the meaning of roses, accompanied by a bouquet that she can decipher using the book. For future reference it’s important that you both use the same dictionary for sending each other floral messages because the exact meaning of a flower or combination of flowers can vary somewhat from book to book and you don’t want to cause any misunderstandings. The flower language became popular during the Victorian era and this was also when the first flower dictionaries where compilled but people where giving meanings to flower long before that. During this period, several different flower dictionaries were published and that is why you can find different interpretations in different books. Hot hot hot
Instead of having your Valentine desert at a restaurant like everyone else, bring your beloved home and make some rich and velvety chocolate fondue. Chocolate fondue is a playful desert that should be slowly enjoyed in the privacy of ones chalet.
What you need
- 1 lb of a high quality chocolate (choose one you know your partner like)
- ½ cup of heavy cream
- 3 teaspoons of Kirsch fruit brandy (this is for flavouring and can be replaced if you dont like it)
- Strawberries and a few other fruits and berries for dipping. I like to use strawberries, mango, pineapple, papaya, green and blue grapes, kiwi, banana, apples, pears, peach or apricot, big raspberries, sweet oranges, loquat, and kumquat.
When you have the ingredients you will also need a fondue pot and some cocktailsticks to use to dip the fruit (tootpicks will do if you can’t find anything else).
Instructions
1.) Cut bigger fruit in to suitable bit sized slices.
2.) Place a cocktail stick in each fruit slice and in each berry. If you plan on giving each of you a small fondue skewer instead you can skip this step.
3.) Break the chocolate into small pieces.
4.) But the cream in the pot and heat it on a low flame.
5.) Slowly add small pieces of chocolate while stirring continuously until all the chocolate is melted.
6.) Stir in the fruit brandy.
7.) Remove the fondue pot from the flame and put it on a portable heat source.
8.) Enjoy feeding eachother ffruit and berries dipped in fondue chocolate.
Tips!
A lot of things are suitable to be used with fondue, not just fruit and berries. Don’t be afraid to use new things. Many people love to dip angel food cake, lady fingers and similar.
Adding nuts to the chocolate will give the dish more variations, e.g. walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts and macadamias.
Taking it even further
If you have a hot tub, take a long and relaxing bath together using bubble bath or bath bombs. Prepare a combination of relaxing and arousing music in advance. If you want to gain extra points you can end the bath with a long massage. Don’t be afraid to use deep and earthy oriental oils like sandalwood and musk; this is not the day for sporty and fresh. When planning the day, make sure you both have nice clean bathrobes to put on afterwards for that luxurious hotel-feeling as you cosy up and replenish your energy with some more chocolate and perhaps a glass of sparking wine.
